Insurance Company Won't Approve My Sleep Study... Anyone Else?

I’m dealing with the same thing, my charts look the same

You can pay out of pocket for a home sleep study. I paid $155 two years ago. I got my supplies from cpap.com.

Luckily, by loosing weight I don’t need a cpap anymore.

A place in Tampa wanted to charge me 250 for a home sleep test with a ring, but after reading their reviews on this forum, I declined.

Do you have to be overweight to have sleep apnea? I’m 5’6” and 140lbs, a little overweight but I dont think apnea is the cause?

@TomHenry
It’s just more common for people who are overweight, anyone can have it.

@TomHenry
Definitely not. Lots of thin 20 year olds have it. It’s often a problem of soft tissue formation in the throat as it is being overweight. I wish you luck!

This forum has tons of people using LOFTA. There is a guy on YouTube who does at home testing and helps reading CPAP therapy reports. In case you need another resource.

@Mason
Awesome, thank you!

@TomHenry
It’s not just overweight but it has a big impact. It’s also your body how it’s built. Glad I got my cpap/apap device a week ago. You will feel like a new human from day 1 of use

@TomHenry
Bro! For the price they asking you to do a sleep study Just buy a cheep sleep app off Ali express!! It can help you in sleep. Not having sleep apnea won’t be affected but if you do have apnea it will be a benefit: cut out the middle man and just go direct to the treatment. You will also know checking your results if it’s Helping. If you don’t have sleep apnea in the end you will still have something you can sell and also know your condition too.

Edit: Hope your work stresses pass soon and I hope you start getting some good rest and that your health is ok.

@TomHenry
Lofta is a great online at home sleep study. Super easy and they pair you up with a doctor to review results/recommendations. Not expensive, but the CPAP equipment is. I also purchased from CPAP.com.

I’m going through a period of pretty bad stress and mine looks identical. Anything stressing you out a bit more than normal?

Work has been dreadful lately, but even going back a few months looks like this.

@TomHenry
Are you American? Bc if so the current chaos could be playing a part

Is the chaos related to this?

Mine looked similar. I was referred to a sleep doctor and a sleep study. It took several months. The home sleep study cost $1,800 - around $1,000 of which I had to pay even though I had already met my deductible. This sleep study was the exact same thing as Lofta uses for $200. If I had a do-over I would skip insurance for the sleep study. Waste of my time and money. Going through insurance would have been a waste for actually getting the CPAP. I paid cash online and saved a lot. And, I have decent insurance. So maybe research your coverage to see if it is worth the fight or if self referral and private pay is a better bet.

@Jay
Oh! I’ll look into Lofta. My at home test was going to be $250 with my insurance, but I didn’t trust the company giving the test

The CPAP forum is helpful and you will be able to find past posts on using Lofta.

@Jay
Man Insurance System is messed up in us. Went to my doctor he made a pre Test that I wore at home. Then 6 weeks later had an appointment at a Sleep Clinic. Waiting time sucks in Germany for an appointment. Now 5 weeks After Sleep clinic I have my cpap all for free, device and mask would cost more then 1000€. This Friday I have an appointment in the Sleep clinic to Check settings. I will Sleep there the Night

@Reilly
I was just saying the same. Same as you, but in Spain. I got the test and the machine all for free of course. I can’t believe the US is “happy” with that…

@Jay
What did you find?
