I’m using an iPhone 11, and this thing overheats all the time. Charging, using apps, browsing… it’s not so bad that it shuts down, but it dims the screen a lot, which is really annoying. The phone also feels like it’s slowing down over time.
Not using a case helps a bit, but I’ve already gone through four or five AppleCare replacements since figuring that out.
The next iPhone 17 Pro might get a vapor chamber for better cooling, but it could be only for the Pro Max. My 16 Pro has overheated maybe twice in the last four months.

@Keller
I’ve used both the S25 Ultra and the iPhone 16 Pro. They both get a little warm when doing heavy stuff like watching YouTube in picture-in-picture while switching apps. It’s not extreme, but it’s noticeable.

The 17 Pro is probably not getting a vapor chamber.
Mine only gets warm when charging, especially if I’m using the full 30W. It happens sometimes, but not often. Would be nice if it got hot when I’m outside freezing though.

The iPhone 16 Pro Max has a new cooling system. Even when I play intense games, it stays cool.
Mine still gets hot. Do you use a case?
New updates have a lot of stuff running in the background. You might want to check a guide on turning off unnecessary features. Mine got warm after updating to iOS 18, and I had to tweak some settings.
