I have been using this feature and I wonder if I can use the iPad while charging. Does this have the same effect as using it without charging or can it damage the iPad over time?
I don’t get why I’m downvoted. This is my first time owning a tablet and an Apple product. I’m still learning about the Apple ecosystem. I hope everyone understands.

It’s silly to downvote this. It’s a good question. This is what forums are for.
Some Apple users can be really entitled.
@Zephyr
Some people just passed by and asked me ‘did you just flex with iPad’ This is a forum about the iPad Pro, come on.

Forget those who downvoted you. They act like you should know everything. Feel free to ask any questions; this is an open forum.

The battery has an advanced monitoring system that charges up to 100% even when set to 80%. When it reaches the maximum, whether it’s 80 or 100%, it will stop charging and let the battery drop by about 5% before topping off again.

Don’t take it to heart. Those who downvoted probably have some issues and are angry. Your question was completely valid. I also use the 80 percent limit and was looking forward to some good answers, but I should have known better. You shouldn’t apologize for asking simple and relevant questions. Hope you have a great week!
I charge mine to 100% and use it until it drops to 10%. After 2 years with my iPad Pro 11 M2, my battery health is at 98%, which is considered excellent.

How can I check my battery health?
@Farley
I think it’s only on the Pro models and the newer Airs, but you should find it in the battery section of the settings.

I have the same iPad Pro M2 but don’t know where the battery health menu is.

I’m using iPadOS 18 and I can’t see it. Is this feature only available in beta versions?
@Harper
What iPad model do you have? I have an M4 Pro but still on iOS 17, and I can just tap the battery tab, then battery health.

I’ve got the M2 Pro, maybe it’s only for the new Pros and Airs?

I just bought an iPad Pro M2, but I don’t see the battery health or 80% limit. I’m curious if they gave that to the M4 iPad Pros like they did with the iPhone 15 Pro.
Yes, I always keep mine plugged in because I read reports from people saying that after years of keeping their iPads connected to the charger, their battery health dropped by around 10% and it was always at 100%.
@Kel
Thanks for the tip! I’ll keep that in mind.
@Kel
Do you leave it plugged in when you’re not using it?

I do, I have an iPad Pro 2020 without the M chip.
I keep mine at 80% just like my phone. The 80% limit is a great feature for the M4. I’m sure the downvotes come from those who couldn’t justify the upgrade. Enjoy your iPad; limiting it to 80% helps with battery health.
