Best Third-Party Apps?

I’m a new Apple Watch owner and have the 42mm Series 10.

I’d love to make the most out of my watch and was hoping for recommendations on third-party apps you all couldn’t live without. I’m especially interested in apps for organization, productivity, and focus (I have ADHD, so anything that helps with routine is a big plus).

I’m also curious about health-related apps, particularly ones that provide continuous heart rate monitoring, since I’m transitioning from a Fitbit and that’s a feature I really miss. Any other health tracking apps that you’d recommend would be great too!

I’ve got some favorites:

  • WorkOutdoors: Best for tracking workouts, especially if you enjoy hiking or running outdoors.
  • Sonar: Syncs health and fitness data across many platforms.
  • JustPressRecord: Handy for taking voice notes that get transcribed.
  • WaterLlama: Best hydration tracker I’ve used, with a playful interface.
  • Pennies: Great for budgeting on the go, though it’s not free.
  • Night Sky: Turns your watch into a planetarium.
  • Carrot Weather: Funny and accurate weather app.
  • Lumy: Beautifully designed for tracking golden hour.
  • Overcast: Excellent for podcast playback.
  • AutoSleep: Comprehensive sleep tracking.

Hope some of these work for you!

@Zayne
I use WaterLlama and Night Sky too. WaterLlama helps me stay hydrated.

I also rely a lot on reminders and timers, especially location-based reminders for ADHD.

Why use WorkOutdoors over the built-in Workout app?

It has offline maps, which is handy for trails and outdoor activities.

@Zayne
I’d also recommend Weather Up for great watch widgets.

Appreciate your patience in sharing this again. Upvoted!

Have you tried Heart Analyzer? It’s pretty solid for heart rate tracking.

I use Beat Watcher for heart rate monitoring when I feel symptoms. It integrates nicely with Apple Health and is a one-time purchase.

Here are some recommendations that have helped me:

  • AntBrowser: A browser for the watch, made by an indie dev.
  • Countdown: Set countdowns with cute icons, works as a complication.
  • WaterLlama: Super intuitive for tracking hydration.
  • Pedometer++: Great for tracking steps.
  • Spotify: Easy music streaming from the watch.
  • EcoBee: Manage your smart home devices.
  • Citymapper: Essential for public transit navigation.
  • AnyList: Perfect for meal planning and grocery lists.

I just got a watch too! Following for suggestions.

Why not just use the built-in Heart Rate app?

I used Fitbit for years and got used to continuous heart rate monitoring. The Apple Watch only does periodic checks, and I’d love to have constant monitoring like I did with the Fitbit.

@Nari
Mine seems to do continuous monitoring, but maybe it’s not detailed enough for you? If you want more control, HeartWatch is a good app, though it costs $7.99.

Realized I don’t have any third-party apps on my watch. Might need to change that!

I use HeartWatch from the makers of AutoSleep. Also, Stress Watch is good for tracking stress levels, though I just use the free version.

Google Keep is great for notes, and you can use Reminders for easy list-making. I also love the calendar widget for keeping track of events.

Have you tried using the search function? There’s a lot of good suggestions out there already.

I searched but didn’t find much related to productivity or focus, which is why I made a new post.
