Did Apple stop making leather straps because of pressure from vegans?
You can get leather from animals that died naturally. Just don’t kill them specifically for it.

300 million cows are killed each year for their meat. Many more dairy cows die of natural causes. Do you want that leather to go to waste?
@Jai
I literally said above that ‘Just don’t kill specifically for it—take it from dead bodies.’

I’m sure what’s left of the cow really appreciates your thoughtfulness after we’ve used up all its insides for tasty food.

Leather is a co-product, not a byproduct.

We shouldn’t be killing cows either.

Actually, some cows are raised specifically for leather.
@Shannon
It is very rare that cows are raised only for leather. Hides are almost always used from dairy and meat cows. This comes from my own experience growing up on farms.

There’s actually a whole industry about leather-specific cows where the meat is a secondary product. Obviously, the meat is still sold, but leather is the goal. In any case, let’s just stop killing the cows at all.
100 bucks for a watch strap. Apple can forget it.
