Anyone else’s iPhone 15 Pro overheat and explode

I’ve got this iPhone 15 Pro, bought it from overseas so I don’t have proof of purchase. A couple of weeks ago, it exploded while charging. I have photos but don’t want to share them publicly since they might go viral and attract unwanted attention. Is there any way to get a replacement or repair, even without a receipt? The back and screen are wrecked, and I can see the internals. Any advice on what I should do?

You waited weeks to bring this up…? Kinda suspicious if you ask me.

I actually gave it to someone who said they could help, but they just returned it to me like this.

Did you buy a knock-off phone by any chance?

I can send pics if you DM me. It’s still under warranty till July 2025.

Lol this sounds like a troll post

Are you sure it’s legit? You don’t have a receipt or anything to prove it.

Are you saying it’s normal to have no proof at all if you buy it abroad?

It just seems odd. Even if I buy something abroad, I usually have a credit card statement or something as proof. I wouldn’t be comfortable carrying that much cash around.

That’s the issue—it’s an international purchase. If it wasn’t, this would probably be simpler.

@Abi
Where exactly did you buy it?

This story sounds like a pile of :poop::poop::poop:

Probably got it from a sketchy site, might be a fake.

No, it’s definitely real.

Did you use a genuine charger?

I see this question every time a phone catches fire. The truth is that the charger usually has nothing to do with it. Any device with a battery can have issues. As long as you’re using a somewhat reliable charger, it’s unlikely to be the root cause. Battery issues can happen with any brand or model.

@Kenan
I get what you’re saying, but it just feels weird not to check that possibility.

That’s fair, but there are way more critical factors that affect battery safety. I just don’t want people thinking chargers are usually the problem when they’re really not.

Should I try reaching out to Apple? It was a real Apple charger.

Best bet is to go to an Apple Store.
