Hey, just wanted to ask if anyone else is struggling with selfies on the new iPhone 16 Pro Max? I’m really not impressed with the quality. Even in decent lighting, my photos turn out awful, and my old iPhone 11 did much better. I spent a lot on this phone, and I’ve tried all the settings, but no luck. Is there a way to fix this? Has anyone else had this issue? How do I file a complaint or get a refund?
That looks pretty bad. I guess your best bet is to turn the phone around and use the rear camera with the flash.

It’s just really dark in there. They’re eating in the dark, weirdos, haha.
I feel you, I hated the new iPhone camera too. I used to have an XS Max, and the selfies were amazing. Now, when I take one, the colours look good before I click, but the actual photo turns out with weird greyish tones. In low light, like the one you posted, it looks awful. I still love my 16 Pro Max, but I wish I could switch to the XS Max camera.
I took better pics with my old Blackberry phones.
Same problem here. I even went to the Apple Store thinking I had a defective unit, but nope, it’s the phone. It’s frustrating because I travel a lot and rely on the selfie camera.
I’ve been really disappointed with my iPhone 16 Pro camera too. It’s nothing like what they advertised.
I switched from a Pixel 7 Pro to the iPhone 16 Pro, and I’m shocked by the poor photo quality in low light. I know Pixel phones have great image processing, but I didn’t expect the iPhone to be this bad. The colours are off and the details are poor at night. I think it’s a weak point for the iPhone. The only thing that works is better lighting. If there’s enough light, the iPhone can actually take decent photos.
I think it’s a software issue. I don’t have any issues with the front camera, but it might be fixed in an update. It’s annoying to get this bad quality on such an expensive phone.

Apple rarely fixes camera issues after a release. Unless it’s a major problem like an app crash. If people don’t like the camera, they’ll just release a new phone with better features.

Maybe try taking pictures with Snapchat and see if the quality is better?
I’m having similar quality problems with my 15 Pro Max too.
I just use the rear camera. Much better photos.
I don’t have any issues with mine. Maybe check your camera settings.
Time to switch to Samsung, like me.

Samsung’s camera is even worse.

Samsung’s front camera is better. At least when I compared it with my S24 Ultra.
@Quincy
Nah, it wasn’t. I had the S24 Ultra, and the front and main cameras were just okay. I switched back to iPhone and found peace.

Nope, the Samsung front camera was better in low light. I can’t stand the iPhone’s front camera in low light.

I switched from the S23 Ultra to the iPhone 16 Pro Max, and I got better pictures with the Samsung in most situations. The iPhone only did better with moving objects and video.
